Peer Review Process

The Yemeni Journal of Life Sciences applies a rigorous double-blind peer review system to ensure the quality, credibility, and integrity of all published articles.

1. Initial Screening
All submitted manuscripts are first reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief or a designated Associate Editor to assess their relevance to the journal’s scope, originality, and compliance with author guidelines. Manuscripts failing to meet the basic criteria may be returned to authors without external review.

2. Peer Review
Manuscripts passing the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers in the relevant field. Both the authors and the reviewers remain anonymous throughout the process (double-blind review).

3. Review Criteria
Reviewers are asked to evaluate:

  • Originality and novelty of the work

  • Scientific rigor and methodological soundness

  • Clarity of presentation and quality of writing

  • Appropriateness of references

  • Significance and contribution to the field

4. Editorial Decision
Based on reviewers’ feedback, the Editor-in-Chief (in consultation with the Associate Editors) makes one of the following decisions:

  • Accept as is

  • Minor revision required

  • Major revision required

  • Reject

5. Revisions and Resubmission
Authors receiving a revision decision are expected to submit a revised version within the specified time, accompanied by a point-by-point response to reviewers’ comments. Revised manuscripts may be re-evaluated by the original reviewers.

6. Final Decision and Publication
The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief. Accepted articles are prepared for online publication and assigned to the current issue under the continuous publishing model.

Ethical Principles

  • All peer review is conducted confidentially.

  • Reviewers are required to declare any conflicts of interest.

  • The journal follows the COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers.
