The Yemeni Journal of Life Sciences is an open access journal committed to the free and unrestricted dissemination of scientific knowledge. All published articles are immediately and permanently accessible online without subscription or access fees.

1. Open Access Model

The journal follows a full open access model, meaning:

  • All articles are freely available to read, download, and share.
  • No registration, subscription, or paywall is required.
  • All content is accessible immediately upon publication.

2. User Rights

All published articles are made available under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license unless otherwise stated.

This license allows:

  • Sharing: copying and redistributing the material
  • Adaptation: remixing, transforming, and building upon the material
  • Commercial and non-commercial use

As long as proper attribution to the original work is given.

3. Author Rights

Authors retain full copyright of their published work.

Authors have the right to:

  • Deposit the published version in institutional or personal repositories
  • Share their article on academic platforms
  • Use their article for teaching or research purposes
  • Integrate the content into future works

No additional permission is required from the journal.

4. Article Processing Charges (APCs)

The journal currently does not impose article processing charges, submission fees, or publication fees.

All editorial and publication processes are provided free of charge to authors and readers.

5. Archiving and Preservation

To ensure long-term accessibility, the journal implements the following archiving strategies:

  • Permanent online archiving on the journal’s official website
  • Regular website backups
  • Support for depositing metadata in indexing platforms
  • Compatibility with digital preservation systems

This ensures continuous availability even in case of website or system changes.

6. Repository Policy (Self-Archiving)

Authors are permitted to deposit any version of their manuscript:

  • Preprint (before peer review)
  • Postprint (after peer review but before layout)
  • Publisher’s final PDF (after publication)

in:

  • Institutional repositories
  • Subject-based repositories
  • Personal websites
  • Academic networking platforms (ResearchGate, Academia, etc.)

No embargo period is required.

7. Compliance with Funding Requirements

The journal’s open access model aligns with international policies, including:

  • Plan S requirements
  • Institutional open access mandates
  • Funder open access policies

Authors can deposit versions of their manuscripts according to funder rules.

8. Licensing Transparency

Each article displays its license clearly on:

  • The article webpage
  • The PDF document
  • The metadata record

This ensures clarity for readers, indexers, and repositories.

9. Copyright and Licensing for Supplementary Materials

Supplementary files published alongside articles (e.g., datasets, images, videos, protocols) remain under the same CC BY license unless authors specify otherwise.

Authors must ensure they have permissions to publish supplementary materials.

10. Ethical Use of Open Access Content

While open access allows free use, users must:
