Publication Ethics
The Yemeni Journal of Life Sciences is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity in research and publication. The journal follows the principles and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Responsibilities of Authors

Manuscripts must be original and must not be under review elsewhere.

Proper acknowledgment of sources is required; plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited.

All research involving humans or animals must include an appropriate ethics approval statement.

Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest.
2. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively, fairly, and confidentially.

They should declare any conflicts of interest that may influence their judgment.

Reviews should be completed within the agreed timeline and should provide constructive feedback.
3. Responsibilities of Editors

Editors must ensure that all manuscripts undergo fair and unbiased peer review.

They are responsible for safeguarding the integrity of the scholarly record.

Editors must not have conflicts of interest with respect to submitted manuscripts.

Decisions to accept or reject a manuscript will be based solely on its scholarly merit and relevance to the journal.
4. Research Involving Humans and Animals
Human Subjects

Authors must state in the manuscript that informed consent was obtained from all participants (or their legal guardians).

Research involving human participants must have been reviewed and approved by an appropriate institutional ethics committee or review board.

The name of the approving institution and the reference number of the approval (if available) should be clearly stated.

Studies must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki and relevant national regulations.
Animal Research

Authors must confirm that all animal experiments were conducted according to internationally accepted guidelines for animal welfare (e.g., ARRIVE guidelines, EU Directive 2010/63/EU, or equivalent).

The manuscript must include a statement specifying the approval of an institutional animal care and use committee (IACUC) or an equivalent body.

Authors should describe efforts taken to minimize animal suffering and to use the minimum number of animals necessary to achieve valid results.
Non-compliance
Manuscripts that do not meet these ethical standards will be rejected. If ethical misconduct is discovered after publication, the article may be retracted in accordance with COPE guidelines.
5. Research Misconduct

Plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or duplicate publication are considered serious violations.

All manuscripts are subject to plagiarism screening using specialized software.

Suspected misconduct will be handled according to COPE guidelines.
6. Corrections and Retractions

The journal will issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions when necessary to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
