Aim & Scope

The Yemeni Journal of Life Sciences is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal committed to advancing knowledge across the biological sciences. The journal publishes high-quality original research articles, reviews, short communications, and other scholarly contributions, with particular emphasis on addressing both regional and global challenges in biology, health, and the life sciences.

Aims

  • To provide a rigorous and credible platform for biological research supported by rapid, fair, and constructive double-blind peer review.

  • To promote the principles of open science by ensuring free and unrestricted access to all published content.

  • To encourage contributions that have practical relevance and impact, particularly in resource-limited settings and regions facing biological, environmental, or health-related challenges.

Scope

The Yemeni Journal of Life Sciences welcomes submissions from all fields of biology and life sciences, including but not limited to:

  • Microbiology and Immunology (medical, environmental, food, industrial)

  • Botany and Plant Sciences

  • Zoology and Animal Biology

  • Molecular and Cellular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, and Bioinformatics

  • Biotechnology and Bioprocessing

  • Ecology, Conservation, and Environmental Sciences

  • Public Health, One Health, and Epidemiology

  • Pharmacognosy and Natural Products

  • Marine and Freshwater Biology

  • Agricultural and Food Biology

Article Types

The journal accepts a wide range of scholarly contributions, including:
Original Research Articles, Review Articles, Short Communications, Methods/Protocols, Data Notes, and Letters.

Editorial and Publishing Model

  • Peer Review: All submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review by qualified experts.

  • Frequency: The journal publishes two issues per year (January–June and July–December) under a continuous publishing model, whereby articles appear online as soon as they are ready.

  • Open Access and Fees: All articles are published under an open-access license (CC BY 4.0). At present, the journal charges no article processing fees (APCs).

Ethics and Integrity

The Yemeni Journal of Life Sciences adheres to internationally recognized standards of publication ethics and research integrity.
Policies are guided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), with mandatory plagiarism screening and clear requirements for:

  • Ethics approval for human and animal research

  • Data availability and transparency
