Aims & Scope

The Yemeni Journal of Life Sciences is an international, peer-reviewed journal committed to advancing knowledge across the biological sciences. The journal publishes high-quality original research articles, reviews, short communications, and other scholarly contributions, with particular emphasis on addressing regional and global challenges in biology, health, and the life sciences.

Aims

  • To provide a rigorous and credible platform for biological research supported by fair, constructive, and independent double-blind peer review.
  • To promote the principles of open science by providing free and unrestricted access to all published content.
  • To encourage research with scientific, practical, and societal relevance, particularly in resource-limited settings and regions facing biological, environmental, or health-related challenges.
  • To support the dissemination and international visibility of high-quality research from Yemen and other regions.

Scope

The Yemeni Journal of Life Sciences welcomes submissions from all fields of biology and life sciences, including, but not limited to:

  • Microbiology and Immunology: medical, environmental, food, and industrial microbiology.
  • Botany and Plant Sciences.
  • Zoology and Animal Biology.
  • Molecular and Cellular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, and Bioinformatics.
  • Biotechnology and Bioprocessing.
  • Ecology, Conservation, and Environmental Sciences.
  • Public Health, One Health, and Epidemiology.
  • Pharmacognosy and Natural Products.
  • Marine and Freshwater Biology.
  • Agricultural and Food Biology.

The journal particularly welcomes research addressing scientific and societal challenges relevant to Yemen, the Middle East, and other regions, while maintaining an international scope and readership.

Editorial and Publishing Model

Peer Review

All submissions undergo an initial editorial assessment followed by rigorous double-blind peer review by qualified experts in the relevant field. Editorial decisions are based on the scientific quality, originality, relevance, methodological rigor, and overall suitability of the submission.

Publication Frequency and Model

The journal publishes two issues per year, covering January–June and July–December, under a continuous publication model. Articles are published online individually as soon as they have successfully completed the required editorial, peer-review, and production processes and are ready for publication.

Open Access and Fees

The Yemeni Journal of Life Sciences operates under a Diamond Open Access publishing model. All published articles are freely accessible immediately upon publication without subscription or access fees. The journal does not charge authors Article Processing Charges (APCs) or publication fees.

Published articles are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, subject to the terms of that license.

Ethics and Research Integrity

The Yemeni Journal of Life Sciences is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics and research integrity. The journal's editorial and publication practices are guided by internationally recognized principles of scholarly publishing and publication ethics, including relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Authors are required to comply with the journal's policies and applicable ethical standards concerning:
